I am wrapping up my GREEN week by making my blog CARBON NEUTRAL in honor of ARBOR DAY (April 30th) today! Click here to learn more about this holiday started back in 1872! Last week during Earth Day I received some wonderful comments with GREAT tips and suggestions on how to become earth friendly. If you missed it you can catch up by clicking here make sure you read the comments for the goods! I have been diligent in my efforts to save the planet and save my budget (the 2 work hand in hand ya know!) I read my Eco Chic Guide to Life and learned about more products and programs that have pushed me even further into the mantra-
REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE
I feel so good about what I am doing and the inspiration is coming from all different directions. I started out my week signing up my blog at this site in GermanyMachs_Gruen (means make green) to have a tree planted to offset my sites carbon footprint. The story was featured on one of my local fav hangouts SITS (the secret to success is support) and I signed up immediately to make my site green! Don’t think blogging contributes much to the increase of carbon dioxide? Think again. Blogs that have an average of 15,000 hits per month produce approximately 8 pounds of CO2 (mainframe computers, servers and their cooling systems).
To learn more about their program click here. To see what blogs are already participating click here and to to add your blog to the list of sites going Carbon Neutral you can sign up here.
Want to know where my Modchik tree will be planted? The reforesting project just kicked off last week (April 19, 2009) organized by arborday.org and is taking place in the beautiful Plumas National Forest in No. California.
The forest suffered greatly during the Antelope Complex Fire in July 2007.
To learn more about Arbor Day’Foundation’s reforesting efforts click here.
They also have a Trees In Memory Program and Trees for Pets.
One dollar buys one tree ($10 min purchase)
So today make sure you give your trees a little extra special love and care today and if you don’t have trees near you think about having a few planted in honor of your family or just for you!

Welcome to my blog, my name is Lindsey aka modchik. A former Operations Manager with a strong desire to CREATE. In 2009 I decided my 9-5 job wasn’t working for me (or my two kids). I traded my calculator for a camera and began building a blog. By the end of 2010
