I have to admit I forgot I entered the modchik into DreamHost’s Site of the Month contest. DreamHost is my web server and I have been with them since Sept 2009. They have a helpful customer service dept. and offer live chat which I recently used.  The poor guy on the other was so tolerant of my lack of SQL and general web hosting knowledge. He walked me through it and when I would suddenly leave the chat room silent (crying child) he patiently waited for me to return.

More than once. It was a rough day at casa modchik.

Anyway DreamHost has a monthly contest and the site with the most views wins the title “SITE OF THE MONTH” and you get to put a shiny little badge on your homepage etc.

Well I submitted my site (mainly because people not only vote but they leave feedback and I really wanted a unique perspective from someone that was looking at the site with fresh eyes.

I have to share a side note – throwing my site into the “hat” was right in line with Day 17′s challenge from the 31 Days to Building a Better Blog (search #31DBBB in twitter). You may heard of Darren Rouse from ProBlogger he teamed up with SITS to offer a 31 day challenge to us bloggers.

I’m happy to be in the top 20 but even happier to get real feedback. Although I think my site is anything but “meh” (that means flat, boring, uninspiring, no comment, blah… you get the picture.)

As a reader I know you must look for things in blogs that you frequent, I would love to hear what you would like to see or things that you like about it now. I’m scheduled for a little “touch up” work at the end of the year and your input is invaluable!
