So you probably noticed things have changed around here. I hope you like the new face of the modchik. My web developer and I worked round the clock and I don’t mean figuratively, to get things just right or good enough in some cases. When I sent out a questionnaire last fall many readers responded that they didn’t know where they could find more information if they were interested in lets say reading more posts from the floor of my closet.  So I completely overhauled my categories and deleted about half. I couldn’t believe the amount of Word Press clutter my blog had accumulated over the past year. If you are a blogger you know exactly what I am talking about. Sometimes when I am blogging on the fly I don’t take the time to carefully construct my sentences, check grammer and not put any thought into carefully crafting my SEO information. If I lost you on that last sentence don’t worry it’s really dry stuff but in the world of Google, Bing, Yahoo and the like its kinda critical that all the information behind the scenes is accurate and clean. Trust me you do not want to develop a bad reputation in with the Google bots. The bots are programs that crawl the web and gather information about sites, this way Google can understand what your blog post is about and better place your website when someone searches for a term that lines up with exactly what you last blogged about.

I really lost you now didn’t I?

So what I was saying about my mini lift. I tried to organize the site into the select few subjects that seem most natural for me. If you look above you’ll see five words, and you can expect me to change those at any moment because I like to rearrange furniture a lot. But for now let’s just stick with those five. Each one has a drop down menu that will lead you further down the rabbit hole. But before you I sent you off to go clicking please note that I have to go through approximately 200 posts and place them within the newly anointed categories. I know I could have spared myself this work by keeping and just renaming the existing ones but that wold have just be too easy and hey its tax time too so why not put my head in that vice and crank away right? What can I say I am deadline driven and apparently dig sado masochism.

Take a look around and let me know what you think. My favorite part is the summary posts. Now when you search or look back at another month you will see a page full of thumbnails and snippets making it easier for you to see what I was rambling about and hopefully helps you glean what you want to out of the blog. It was my hopes at least.

I’m getting ready to head back into the kitchen and dig through a years worth of photos and recipes that were all scheduled for 2010. There’s no better time like the present right?
