about me
Welcome to my blog, my name is Lindsey aka modchik. A former Operations Manager with a strong desire to CREATE. In 2009 I decided my 9-5 job wasn't working for me (or my two kids). I traded my calculator for a camera and began building a blog. By the end of 2010 modchik-photography happened. I have a penchant for good recipes, strong coffee, iPhoneography, mid-century modernism, fashion trends, astrology and Pinterest. I get to talk about all of that here. I promise you'll never be bored.

An Important PSA
I have a confession to make. Its’ been 2 years since I have seen a dentist and had my teeth examined. What makes this even worse is the fact that my husband is in the profession. He is a root canal specialist so it’s not like he can do a bedside cleaning, in fact I’m not entire sure he even knows how to clean teeth. Can I tell you another secret? The man rarely brushes his teeth. Sounds like dirty laundry right? Well … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 26 :: Fat Flush For Life
What steps are you taking in 2012 to become healthier? I’m gearing up for some dietary changes in 2012. Nothing drastic, no fasting required and no powders or meal replacement shakes. With Winter officially here its time to crack open my food bible, The Fat Flush (For Life) and read up on what happens to our bodies during the colder seasons. The book is one of my favorite guides I use to align myself at the onset of winter, spring, summer and … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 25 :: Chocolate My Favorite Food Group
Are you in good health? Again with the timing. I find it hilarious that I am inquiring about my health on the day that I find it perfectly acceptable to pop a Sees dark chocolate chew before my first sip of coffee. Round that out with a Morning Bun or two and there’s my Christmas morning. Seven shots later my hands begin to show signs of a slight tremor. Maybe I need something not laced with refined sugar or maybe I just … Continue reading
BlogHer Detox
After this weekend and the food and the drinks and the Micky Dees consumed after midnight at Cheeseburgher all I want to do hit the RESET button on my body. Looking back I think stepping up on the liver cleanse herbs would have been a good idea as well. Enter the juice cleanse. I completed a 5 day cleanse with Ritual Cleanse a few months ago and I loved it. It was my very first cleanse and I can’t begin … Continue reading
My First Juice Fast – Ritual Cleanse Coupon Code
I’m sitting here with my green tea in disbelief. Normally I am already on my second latte by the time I sit down to my computer for some blog time. Snacks are another downfall. I love to sit with my bowl of munchies and mindlessly crunch while I churn out a few blog posts. That has ended too, for the time being at least. Yesterday I ended my 5 day Reset Ritual Cleanse cleanse with lasagna. Yea, I don’t recommend … Continue reading
Feel Your Boobies
Did I get your attention with the word boobies? Good. We all need a reminder once and awhile. Â One thing that happens to all of us when we are busy is we forget to do things like… go to your daughter’s open house (yep I missed this one), pay the AMEX bill (yep this too), tell your husband the IRS agents visit was rescheduled (guilty) and other things that can be life changing like feeling your boobies. I had planned … Continue reading
Whooping Cough…our story
I am compelled to share my story about Whooping Cough (also know as Pertussis) and how frightened I am about the announcement from the California Dept. of Health declaring the Pertussis has reached epidemic status. I want our story out there so that others who find themselves facing a child or themselves inflicted with Pertussis can get information and seek the correct treatment. I am a firm believer that as a PARENT you are your child’s ADVOCATE and that you MUST TRUST YOUR INSTINCT when it comes to their care. Californiahealthline.org … Continue reading
Earth Clinic
Its’ been a little quiet on the modchik lately for good reason. You see I have two kids (12 and 4… yes you can ask… yep same dad) <– the gap is most definitely apparent as they don’t share too much in common except for one thing last week… fifth disease. I could swear that my soon to be 13 year old went through this or was at least exposed to this about 10 years ago in preschool or maybe … Continue reading
