about me
Welcome to my blog, my name is Lindsey aka modchik. A former Operations Manager with a strong desire to CREATE. In 2009 I decided my 9-5 job wasn't working for me (or my two kids). I traded my calculator for a camera and began building a blog. By the end of 2010 modchik-photography happened. I have a penchant for good recipes, strong coffee, iPhoneography, mid-century modernism, fashion trends, astrology and Pinterest. I get to talk about all of that here. I promise you'll never be bored.

Sending a Lovestagram to @foofighters
Too late to mail out your Valentine’s Day cards? Lovestagram has got you covered thanks to a very determined (and well connected) lady, Kaitlyn Trigger. Kaitlyn happens to be Instagram founder Mike Krieger’s girlfriend. She gave herself a deadline of February 14th to launch her own Instagram API program that converts shared instagrams into an e-valentine.I am amazed that someone who has never taken a computer class in her life took it upon herself to teach herself how to write … Continue reading

Starting a 365 Project | Become a Better Photographer
As soon as I took the inaugural 1 of 365 photo I was instructed that I had it wrong, it’s actually a 366 project this year due to the Leap Year. I’ll just take that as a sign of the surprises to come in 2012. Last year I started a 365. I took a photo a day but after the 60th upload I got my iPhone and fell deep into that app rabbit hole. This year I intend to complete 365+1 with or … Continue reading
Olympus Pen Ready Project
I love the idea of ditching my big camera for something small and compact. Something that fits in the palm of your hand with removable lenses. I saw a couple new Olympus PEN cameras floating around camp a few months ago, they looked like a great little cameras and I overheard they shoot HD video as well.ities. Olympus put 1000 cameras into the hands of 1000 people for the Pen Ready Project including the hands of shutter sisters, Kristin-mainemomma and Tammy Lee-Bradley. I … Continue reading

12 Days of Giveaways | Day 7 :: Keepsy Photo Album
Today’s giveaway has to do with one of my FAVORITE things I discovered this year, the iPhone. Along with the iPhone came the Instagram app, after that I was no longer seen or heard from for six months. Then one day a box appeared on my doorstep from Keepsy. It was a photo album with my instagram photos printed inside. It was extremely thoughtful of Blake and his crew at Keepsy. The website lets you print full color books just by … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 4 :: 30 Days of Gratitude
What projects did you finish in 2011? This post is a few hours late because I had to finish a project (heh heh) this is one of the only projects I think I have completed as in star to finish this year. It took me a few hours to organize and finish all the formatting but here it is my 30 Day Gratitude Project. Like Reverb 11 there are many variations of the Gratitude Project, I took part in one … Continue reading
InstaFriday | Post Holiday
You didn’t think I was going to let Friday go by without a little Instagram recap did you? It was actually a slow week I have been busy recovering from a week off with the kids, driving out to the desert last weekend (didn’t mind those 80 degree days) and cleaning up AFTER the AFTER Thanksgiving dinner. Yes you read that right, I make a Thanksgiving dinner for the four of us the week after the actual holiday. This way we have … Continue reading
InstaFriday | Why I Finally Updated Instagram
This week I did something I said I would never do. I updated to the latest version Instagram. I know I know … I’m already suffering the consequences of crashing apps and harsh tilt shift BUT… I have the old version on my old iPod so I can always email myself a photo to apply one of the original filters to. Extra steps? Yes but I think some filters (Toaster, Apollo, Walden, Gotham, 1977… heck all of them) are worth … Continue reading
InstaFriday | How to Rollback Instagram
September 29th, 2011 is the day I updated to Instagram ver 2.0 and I have been unhappy ever since. I have begged the founders @mikey and @kevin to PLEASE #bringoldfiltersback and yet nothing changed. I can’t imagine they would want to scrap the entire app and start again new but with that update it sure felt like it. I was excited for the new apps but HORRIBLY distraught to see they had changed Earlybird and Toaster, people were referring to … Continue reading
