about me
Welcome to my blog, my name is Lindsey aka modchik. A former Operations Manager with a strong desire to CREATE. In 2009 I decided my 9-5 job wasn't working for me (or my two kids). I traded my calculator for a camera and began building a blog. By the end of 2010 modchik-photography happened. I have a penchant for good recipes, strong coffee, iPhoneography, mid-century modernism, fashion trends, astrology and Pinterest. I get to talk about all of that here. I promise you'll never be bored.

52 Weeks of Photo Inspiration
Today begins a whole new photo journey for me with the beginning of the 52-week ‘photo centric community’ called, Picture Inspiration from Big Picture Classes. Yours truly will be one of seven moderators among 400+ participants (as of today). I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be a part of this series spearheaded by Tracey Clark (shuttersisters). I started last year with Big Picture Summer and had a somewhat short lived stint on Big Picture Fall but when the Holiday … Continue reading
Picture The Holidays – a week in photos
Today marks the end of Week One of my online photo class. This group (by far) has THE most talent I have ever seen in a photo class. I am inspired daily by everyone’s photos. The class is filled with familiar faces of classes passed along with newbies (who are for the most part amazingly talented). I drool over their snow photos they are so lovely. If you haven’t heard of these classes before go take a look at bigpictureclasses.com its a collaborative effort … Continue reading
Big Picture Fall – Day 1
It’s that time again! 30 days make that 31 days of photos but who’s counting? As part of my 100 Day Challenge (which by the way if you are playing along at home this is Day eight) one of my goals is CONSISTENCY. So I vow to try my best-est as my 4 yr old would say, to post a photo every day from my Big Picture Fall Class. I know some of you must think I need another deadline like … Continue reading

Picture Summer – Day 13
f/5.6 • 1/250 • ISO 100 • Lens: 24-105 at 105mm Straight from the bush to my bowl. Nice bright morning sun. Sometimes its all too easy. Love playing with my new presets from GetTotallyRad.com. My favorite preset name… “sharpen that sh*ts out of focus” I think I added a nice layer of “purple nurple” to this one.
Picture Summer – Day 3
f/7.1 • 1/1600 • ISO 1250 • Lens: 50mm We have so many hummingbirds zooming around our yard it can be quite dizzying at times. This one just came up to Weebee (our cat) and I and perched itself on a string of lights. Obviously a juvenile (see the cute fuzzy white down feathers?). I ran inside grabbed my camera and he let me get up close, I had to I was using my fixed Canon 50mm = the only way to zoom … Continue reading
Picture Summer – Day 2
f/1.8 • 1/250 • ISO 160 • Lens: 50mm I went out and shot one thing and uploaded and tweaked in Lr and then realized I did not quite follow the rules of the prompt for that day ….um do-over. Thankfully this shot worked and it happened only because I grabbed these 2 out of the fridge and forgot to bring them inside (sweating bottles) but the colors played off the succulents right behind them so well… I snapped a few and loved … Continue reading
