about me
Welcome to my blog, my name is Lindsey aka modchik. A former Operations Manager with a strong desire to CREATE. In 2009 I decided my 9-5 job wasn't working for me (or my two kids). I traded my calculator for a camera and began building a blog. By the end of 2010 modchik-photography happened. I have a penchant for good recipes, strong coffee, iPhoneography, mid-century modernism, fashion trends, astrology and Pinterest. I get to talk about all of that here. I promise you'll never be bored.

Reverb 11 | Day 31 :: The End or Just the Beginning?
Whoa I really did it. Amazingly enough I didn’t fall too behind either (who’s counting eh?).  Here we are faced with the final question. Where do you want to be in 2013? A year from now I will sit down and I will repost this answer along with a comparison between what was wished for and what was received. Be careful what I wish for right? 1) I would like to be gainfully self employed. Working at my own hours, any time … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 30 :: Burn & Float Time
How will you mark the end of 2012? It’s that time again, time to do what some do on Winter Solstice, create a fire and write down what you wish to release and toss it into the flame. I shared a time honored tradition of mine called Burn & Float a ritual that helps you release what is not wanted and attract what is. All you need is a fire and a body of water. A a few years ago we used … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 29 :: Vision Board Revised
What’s on your Vision Board for 2012? You may not know this about me but I am a firm believer in the power of manifestation. If you see it you can become it is one of my mottos. I do this for practically everything. My mom texts on her second leg of of traveling stand by. Husband grumbles as we pull into a crowded parking lot, I tell him no problem I’m visualizing us parked, within seconds reverse lights, we’re … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 28 :: Pack My Bags
What places would you like to visit next year? We are just days away from the final Reverb post. Didn’t think I could do it to be honest with you. Places I would like to visit in 2012. New York – I have never been (I KNOW!!!) I would love to see the Brooklyn Bridge, Anthony Bourdains’ Les Halles and the 9/11 Memorial. Florida – I just dropped my mom off at the airport on Wednesday and I already miss her plus … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 27 :: My 2012 Cookbook Want List
What new foods did you try this year? Well nothing extremely interesting I assure you. racking my brain to come up with at least one that was out of my comfort zone. I think the Carrot Halwa dessert at Tamarind of London was the most unique dessert I tried this year, it is a traditional Indian dish very similar to a more textured version of rice pudding. In the recipe department there have been a few new additions to the rotation, Honey Mustard … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 26 :: Fat Flush For Life
What steps are you taking in 2012 to become healthier? I’m gearing up for some dietary changes in 2012. Nothing drastic, no fasting required and no powders or meal replacement shakes. With Winter officially here its time to crack open my food bible, The Fat Flush (For Life) and read up on what happens to our bodies during the colder seasons. The book is one of my favorite guides I use to align myself at the onset of winter, spring, summer and … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 25 :: Chocolate My Favorite Food Group
Are you in good health? Again with the timing. I find it hilarious that I am inquiring about my health on the day that I find it perfectly acceptable to pop a Sees dark chocolate chew before my first sip of coffee. Round that out with a Morning Bun or two and there’s my Christmas morning. Seven shots later my hands begin to show signs of a slight tremor. Maybe I need something not laced with refined sugar or maybe I just … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 24 :: Risky Business
Did you take a risk this year? The biggest risk for me ties in with finances, come to think of it everything I can think of is linked to money. I have always managed our household finances, I have been doing it for over 15 years. I taught myself QuickBooks that long ago as well and was the self appointed office manager, control CFO of my husbands dental practice. A newlywed with a baby on the way (that sounded so shotgun) I was … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 23 :: Relax
How do you relax? Relax? Wha? I ask myself this now 2 days before Christmas? Ha! Someone needs to take over this prompt writing thing, clearly its not my thing. I think the last time I relaxed was in hmmmm 1995 or maybe it was 94′. I met my then fiance in Hawaii. He was living in Japan and that was halfway. We didn’t have any mortgages, offspring, college funds, or debt and life was good. I used to read … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 22 :: Songs Spotified
What was your favorite new song? Ok now this one is impossible. Who wrote this list anyway? Maybe best album or favorite songs plural. I begin by pulling up lists on the internet and then it becomes painfully clear. I am old. Wait there is a glimmer of hope that I have a thread of left in me I do have one of the albums that appears in the Top 25. Within & Without by Washed Out. I discovered that song while listening to … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 21 :: Ch ch ch ch Changes
I still don’t know what I was waiting for And my time was running wild A million dead-end streets Every time I thought I’d got it made It seemed the taste was not so sweet So I turned myself to face me But I’ve never caught a glimpse Of how the others must see the faker I’m much too fast to take that test Changes – David Bowie What would you change? Sitting at the keyboard thinking about today’s prompt … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 20 :: Smile
What makes you smile? At this point of Reverb I think what makes me smile is the fact that we are almost a week away from completion. Did you reverb as well? Maybe you are like me and you are in catch up mode. Well smile and know that we all fall behind from time to time it’s perfectly OK. If you are a regular reader you know I tend to take on projects with all the good intentions in … Continue reading
Reverb 11 :: Day 19 Peace Love and Chocolate
What brings you peace? I’m not kidding when I say that chocolate brings me a sense of peace. My mouth waters at the thought of placing a few bites of that 85% dark cocoa on my lips. Take that one step further and eat chocolate that has been blessed with the highest intentions and I think I may have discovered the answer to world peace, well maybe just within my world. During the holidaze its important to bring back some peace and … Continue reading
Reverb 11 | Day 18 :: The Big F Word Failure
What scares you? Oh just about everything. Fear has a nice grip on me lately. Fearful I won’t have enough. Not enough money for sure. Not enough interest in my work, that’s always a given. Certainly not enough time to finish everything. Don’t get me started about raising well rounded healthy human beings. I could stand to revisit The Power of Now. I talked about how that book helped me completely get rid of my fear of flying. It helps reel you back in … Continue reading
Reverb 11 :: Day 17 Being Grateful
When were you the most grateful? When I wasn’t injured in either car accident. When my MRI came back fine. When a friend stepped in and asked how she could help. When I opened my mailbox to find it full of holiday cards and gifts this week. FROM READERS too!!! I PUFFY HEART YOU. When I didn’t have to break out the breathing treatment thingy-ma-jig for my daughter this year. When my husband said he handle things so I could travel. When … Continue reading
