The Giant Post-it List | Get Organized

03.30.10 By Lindsey G 3 Comments

The weather has suddenly turned dark and cold today. Perfect for catching up on laundry and processing the hundreds of photos I took last weekend with Adobe’s LightRoom. I’m a little overwhelmed at how much I actually have to do this week before Easter.  Don’t even get me started about tax returns … or property taxes (how about I give them an IOU just like the one we are gonna get when we try to get our refund this year, unfair isn’t it?). You know what sounds good? Strudel. Check out this little frozen treasure I found at Trader Joe’s. I inhaled half of that as I sat down to write this post.. I digress.

The perfect balance of buttery pastry, tart apples and tiny sweet raisins (just a few). Ok what was I talking about? oh yes.. I was feeling a bit…. scattered.

The moment I feel myself ready to rip off the baristas’ head at Starbucks for putting one too many pumps in my drink I KNOW it’s time for some serious list making! I find this process equivalent to an hour long session on the couch (no not that kind of session..sheesh). Completely therapeutic I instantly calm down the moment I see all of life’s demands staring at me in nice sequential order and in color (colored markers rank very high in my book). Lists are the only way I can get a handle when things start to get a little dodgy as I like to say. And things at my house are beyond dodgy at the moment (insert apology to hubby and rugrats here).

Time break out the SUPER POST-IT NOTES!

Giant Post It Pad

In my office you’ll see an entire wall lined with these HUGE Post It sheets.

Lined and sticky at the top you can easily grab a big marker and start listing all those things you wanted to complete in your life..

Giant Post Its on office wall

here are a few of mine:

1. Order silkworms & crickets for Chompers (you’ll meet him soon he’s our bearded dragon, not to be confused with bearded lady.

2. Get kids a passport (just in case we get a wild hair and decide to drop everything and take off to um….let’s say IBIZA!) no seriously everyone need one!

3. File taxes (booooring)

4. File back taxes (*whistling* oooh  wow … did I just really type that?)

5. Get site up and running… oh yea that one is DONE!

The great thing about these is you can rip them down and reposition without taking paint off. They have just the right amount of stick!

Colored markers in hand and try to use my 7 Habits of Highly Effective People skills and implement the A-B-C order of importance. Sometimes I blow right past the A’s and knock out some B’s or C’s it doesn’t really matter it’s that I get it DONE that’s important.

Right next to my GIANT lists is my Dream Board. Do you have one of these too? Have you read The Answer? I’ll share with you another day more about John Assaraf’s book (one of those ah-ha moments for me).  I’m actually thinking of having a dream board party too, maybe when the dust settles and I have a few more things crossed off my list!

Enjoy!
