I woke up this morning and before I even got out of bed I heard it. The Santa Ana winds were back or devil winds as some people call them. This was very late in the season to have a Santa Ana condition, gusty winds are no match for and outdoor party WITH inflatables! I felt so bad for my friend Sara, I knew her type, completely organized she probably had everything done weeks prior to this party, baby slung on hip with a preschooler in tow (she’s is THAT good) but there was nothing she could do to stop those winds. Armed with a giant roll of duct tape she pulled off an amazingly large party for her son Jack.
The weather was spectacular despite the breeze. I have to say I love a park party don’t you? You bring a few lawn chairs slather up the kids in SPF 100 and then let them run wild! Even our preschool teacher Mrs. Simpson made a surprise stop over that day. It was funny to watch the kids reaction to her at the party! Mine actually hid behind my legs, I don’t think she knew what to think of seeing her beloved teacher outside of that classroom, she must think Mrs. Simpson lives at school with all the pets.
We spent a lot of time at the play area just hanging out with the other kids, looking back I do wish I took more photos. I think I was super hungry and parked myself next to one of the foot long subs and just never left until cake came. Too bad I don’t have a photo of the goody bags either, they were in the shape of a GIGANTIC monster truck wheel and STUFFED to the brim with all sorts of treasures. I used that bag as leverage that to get Ava to finally come home with me. I love a good bribe. Happy Birthday Jack!
