A Week In The Life – Day Seven (The End)

08.01.11 By Lindsey G 9 Comments

I did it.

I’m done.

Too bad it wasn’t a 7 day cleanse. I would be 10 pounds lighter this morning.

Sunday being the last day of the Week In The Life, I carried my camera around dutifully and focused on the little things that I think make my life, me. I’m really glad I did this. It was an exercise in discipline and creativity but most of all it I think it was a lesson in self control. Seeing where my time is spent and how much I am invested in so many areas made me realize how thinly I have spread myself. I am just getting by with everything carefully balanced but there is no wiggle room. No margin for error. Really not much free time and this is all happening in carefree months of summer. I can’t imagine how my work habits are going to fit into the rigidly scheduled fall. I may have to do this project again in another season. Maybe each season. Too much? Maybe.

7:00 am – I’m up and making coffee before anyone else. I covet this time even if it’s only for 15 minutes. Mini me and I have separation issues, I can definitely be away for extended periods of time, her? not so much. As soon as she hears the machine pulling espresso shots she’s up. Sigh, so much for me time.

See that stance.  That means don’t invade my personal space.

It raining. That is very unusual and I LOVE IT. Good writing and photo editing weather.

Its grey outside. Tiny raindrops not much of a pool day and I’m OK with that I have laundry for days to fold.

Someone is making a late breakfast for everyone. Thankfully it’s not me.

What you don’t see is Dr.G spinning the plate around so I can’t get the shot. He’s so funny isn’t he.

I warned him I will use this shot. His choice.

This child rarely eats breakfast and he’s 6 ft. tall. I had no idea you can grow on a diet  of sub sandwiches and cola.

I decide to break out the Bay’s muffins and manchengo for an egg sammie.

Our beloved Angels are playing Detroit so the game is on early, it was a wild one that eventually lead to our pitcher and the manager getting ejected. To add insult to injury we lost.

mid morning snack while I blog. I have 2 and the rest walk off with the 5 yr. old.

What I am listening to while I edit photos. I love this new album its ambient and keeps my right brain occupied during the creative lulls when critical thinking is required. Because blogging is so critical. 🙂

Super A tagged me during a game of Nail Shop.

I’m struggling with Chrome and flash uploader today! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t see you, you don’t see me.

Using instagram to edit photos for my blog who says you can’t. I do.

Oh look who sits quietly behind me. You are going to miss your daily Weebee me thinketh.

Day 6 posted I need to hit the pile of clothes that have sat in the corner of my room for a month, yes a month they now have collected dust. Keepin it real. I need to pitch those magazines, please someone tell me to just purge all of this including the sushi pajamas I haven’t worn in 10 years. Seriously.

I’m watching Home by Novogratz. I love their design style, but I have to say the new show is a little too homogenized for me. HGTV I love your shows but this seems to be so in-congruent with the Novogratzs’ independent vibe. I’m torn but I still watch. See that shot, its of photo wallpaper – I AM SO DOING THIS IN MY HOUSE.

Speaking of pillows, I look over Weebee is napping next to a pillow that looks perfect. I have to take her photo, she is not happy. But look at these, no editing just SOOC (straight out of the camera).

Weebee is happy I’m done with a Week In The Life.

Dinner time. I was all ready to bust out some chateaubriand, but I sorta ran out of time. Grilling is always Plan B.

Sockeye salmon and grilled shrimp.

Dr. G obliged, I asked for just one shot to end this documentary project. He’s actually a great photographer.

After telling her that its time to wash her hair she immediately falls asleep. She’s crafty like that. I must also point out the perfectness of lovey (1, 2 or 3 I’m not sure which one this is, while I edit these she points out there is another tucked under her chin).

This is my view every night. Current read: Tolstoy, the man should have majored in philosophy. Daughter passed out in the bed next to him.

and finally some me time (there is a cat waiting patiently in the blackness for a taste)

favorite flavor: Häagen–Dazs Caramel Cone Crunch

I’m not looking at this for any other reason than I hear a jet screaming over the house and the curfew is 11:00 pm. Yes I am that easily distracted and compelled at the same time. I am so comfortable at this point I decide just to turn off the light and sleep on the couch for a few hours. I’m too lazy to even brush my teeth.

I need to re-engage back into my life without the camera and a journal. I have a HUGE week ahead of me. I’m a little anxious about what the future holds for my blog and my photography I know that attending BlogHer 11 this week is going to be a game changer. I’m excited to meet my virtual friends, it’s going to be a little surreal and overwhelming for me I’m sure.  I need make lists, pack, finalize kid schedule, confirm reservations, edit my two open photo jobs, write more posts, and above all go brush my teeth.

Visit Ali Edwards Week In The Life and see all the wonderful stories unfolded this week. I encourage to sign up for her emails and take a stab at participating in the next Week In The Life project, I’ll see you there, I guarantee it. For all of my Week In The Life photos visit my Flickr set.

And if you are just joining us today here’s what you missed:

I love your days. And I love your photos of your days.
Purge. You’ll feel so much better, I promise.
and Weebee is gorgeous. the only cat to make me rethink my ban on adding another four-footed member to the household.
I’m thinking if I actually prepared food, I’d at least have that to photograph. There are a number of bowls of cereal shots in my week, that’s what happens when you live alone.
    Love your mosaic too.

trust me if I didn’t have kids I would be eating a tons more cereal. I think I busted a bowl out on Day 4, I was still hungry after dinner.

I think because our oldest is 14 things are somewhat on autopilot and much easier. You my friend are in the trenches. It does get easier but don’t be like me and wait 9 years before another. I can’t wait to go read your what to wear post!!!

This by far is my most favorite post of the series. Especially the photo of you at the end. Beautiful. I feel a little inspiration coming to post one to these myself. Just one day – would you care to be my wing(wo)man and photograph it all? xo
