Oh where to begin. I know I can’t be the only one who is still in a daze, right? 10 days later and I’m still asking what did I do? Who did I see? Its more like who DIDN’T I see and what DID’NT I do because I felt like everything just came together perfectly.
There was the anxiety, but that was very short lived after all how can I be anxious about meeting people I know ‘virtually’ I already feel like I know them including their kids from time spent on their blogs or chatting via instagram and twitterverse. I think the success of my trip is solely based on the fact that I made it my personal mission to meet 90% of the people I connect with online. Of course there were a few that slipped past me but I really had a good batting average over the weekend. We are talking people like Alli Worthington. who was a hilarious as her entertaining instagrams. and her Blissdom partner Barbara whom we mutually agreed that Dave Grohl is the second coming of Christ. There was The Redneck Mommy Tanis and Mr. Lady, the two of them are the perfect combination of humility, snark and great writing. I regret not seeing Mr. Lady speaking about Blogging through self acceptance with author Brene Brown. I love these ladies and their respective work they have graced the blog world with all these years. And drumroll please, the uber lovely and according to Klout, currently a specialist in schizophrenia, the The Bloggess, Jenny. I admitted to Jenny behind the ‘bathroom’ wall that I actually bid on her haunted Rebel Camera a year ago and was secretly happy to be outbid when the price shot up well over $500. She laughed and then immediately deadpanned with “I know seriously that was crazy”. I’d like to think Jenny and I share a love for cats (<– click for the photo seriously) and red dresses, but we probably don’t since I am one of 150 THOUSAND followers she has on Twitter but man do I love a girl who wields a sharp tongue and a penchant for f-bombs. I also met Fadra from allthingsfadra.com who hooked me up with a lot of Cheeseburgers at CheeseBurgHer. My photog peeps Mae and Kristina (modchik photography Q&A on Kristina’s Moms Who Click website today), we all sat in on Penny De Los Santos‘ session about Change Yourself – Food Photography That Will Feed Your Soul (about finding your passion). It translated beautifully on so many levels whether you were a photographer, blogger, chef whatever. Penny’s talk and her blog inspired my series on OC Family about what makes a photo great, the first of which will repost here tomorrow. I am definitely going to share more about Penny and her work.
There was the parties to which I think that may require a separate post all its own. For a little taste I have to include the slide show from SparkleCorn because A– IT WAS AWESOME and B– I’m in it (slide 2 I think)! Gah! Wait till you see the video Ryan Marshall made, I think the video alone will make you want to go to BlogHer 12′.
