There has been quite a shake up in the Instagram community this week with its latest app update, version 2.0 its like they scrapped the entire app and started all over again, even the user unterface has changed. I’m not bitter or anything.
Change is good right? I keep telling myself that as I throw my phone across the room. Just kidding. I just verbally abuse it.
So what’s the positive? New features in version 2.0 –
- Photo resolution is 10 times higher on the new ap
- Increased the size of photos from 612 x 612 to 1936 x 1936 on the iPhone 4
- New selective LIVE blur feature is 100x faster and stronger DOF.
- Ability to turn frames ON or OFF
- Rotate photos
Before and after showing you the size difference – that’s a HUGE improvement when you are taking photos WITH the app. If you want to see what I mean click on any of my instagrams towards the bottom they will open in a new browser window full size.
Supposedly you can take a photo with a filter already ON (see below) according to the article on PCMag but I haven’t figured it out. All I know is that they REALLY changed the filters, almost every one of them has been modified which I can’t for the life figure out why you would want to mess with a good thing?
Instagram Superuser @colerise collaborated on the filter redesign which I had high hopes for because I love his photos. but with the exception of the new filter Amaro, I’ll be polite and just say I don’t care for the new interface especially the slide toggle.
What I would like to see is founders @mikeyk and @kevin #bringbacktheoldfilters <– they even created a hashtag in support! I did read on @kevins stream that they are bringing back the old earlybird, with the next update – I know @imoments will be super happy about that, she rules the bird! What I want is my old toaster back. Look how they changed it.
My instagrams were few are far between but what I lacked in volume I think I made up for in content, help that I went to one of the most photo rich and extremely crowded places on the planet, Disneyland. It was hard to get photos WITHOUT people in it, but the colors and the details are really wonderful when you do get it just right just like they say, magical.
The other app I am using is called SNAPSEED by NikSoftware TODAY ONLY the APP IS FREE – GO GET IT!
