My daughter lost her first tooth today.
Then she lost it again.
She swallowed it five minutes after I pulled it out.
My daughter has been complaining for the past week that she can’t bear to have a wiggly tooth for even one more day. I remember that same heebie-jeebie feeling that came over me when I bit into something and my tooth wobbled. Shudder. My husband tried to help with pliers and she agreed to it, that didn’t go over well. I told him stick to what he does best root canals, pediatric dentistry is a little more involved then string and door knobs.
Today while shopping I let her have PopRocks but these weren’t any old rocks these were gum PopRocks, her tooth surrendered before she could get her second fist full in. I successfully extracted in the middle of aisle 5 and promptly took photos for daddy. She wanted to inspect it. She likes to inspect things especially if blood is involved. I handed her the tooth and sent the photos to dad. As she dumped another handful of PopRocks in her mouth I asked her ‘Where’s the tooth?’
I wish I had captured that look. She knew immediately she has just eaten it with her PopRocks (you can see why from the photo). Here come the tears. I told her we had “proof” and showed her the phone. We made a little storyboard (above) for the tooth fairy that I printed and placed under her pillow. I’m sure the fairy will understand.
I ordered this Tooth Fairy Pillow on ETSY for her for next time. I want to be prepared.
I just realized its been ten years since the tooth fairy has visited, I hope she still remembers we like it when she leaves her glitter trail. I also hope the tooth-fairy went to the ATM today too.
