Summer has flown by hasn’t it? Things have been quiet on our photo collaborative site, Mortal Muses for good reason. Behind the scene Kirstin Mckee and Holly Clark worked tirelessly to move the MM website over to WordPress from Blogger. A move that I have been quietly encouraging ever since joining the group last summer, the photos we feature deserve a strong platform . Whether you are a photo enthusiast, budding photographer or someone who just wants to escape to a place filled with dreamy images this the place FOR YOU. Click on the image below to have a look!
The sites editorial calendar is undergoing some changes as well and will now delve deeper into a few niches that we already cover but have since set up NEW Flickr pools including Film Fridays and Mobile Mondays. I for one have been really trying to slow my pace down and film is just the medium to help me with that. I took lots of Polaroids for ‘Roid Week (ended yesterday) while visiting the Hawaiian islands and let me tell you there is nothing like tropical blue skies and brightly painted lifeguard towers to motivate you to get your Polaroid out.
We are also on Instagram as mortalmuses. Come join us and tag your photos with #instamuse so we can feature some of your photos on our new site!
On a personal note…
I’m really looking forward to picking up a camera after this long and trying summer. I found that making time for myself even if its a short errand with just me an iced coffee and my camera it makes all the difference in how I respond to the next challenge. Being able to work through my grief with the support of 8 fellow photogs/muses has been a gift and I am very appreciative of how much they have helped me over these past 8 weeks. Our small group has now become more about the support of friendship and less about churning out new posts. Its about stepping up when someone needs a break or offering help when one of us is at a total loss for words. I’m starting slowly to find my way back as I adapt to the new normal. I realized I have to because no matter how much you resist, life just keeps on going with or without you.
Here’s to beginning new chapters individually and collectively.
