The day has arrived to let you in on a big project I have been working on. Its been hard to not tweet or instagram about it but if you looked carefully I did leave a couple hints. One of you even spotted me “on the job” and quickly tweeted the modchik sighting. I thought I was so incognito in my shades. Well about a month ago I was asked to work on a special Tumblr project for Disney Parks called The Looking Glass. Disney Parks gathered a group of photographers from around the county and sent them to cover specific parks with one thing in mind, shoot the park through with your unique perspective.
After the first day of shooting, we were winding up with one last event, World of Color, which by the way, is SPECTACULAR. It’s a highly choreographed event, produced at the waterfront area of Disney’s California Adventure. The show combines epic use of lights, water, music, animation and fire to take you through a montage of Disney film favorites. I had shot a ton of frames and was about to hang it up for the day and then a dad hoisted his son up onto his shoulders, I held my breath for a couple seconds. What happened inside the camera during the next 10 seconds was magical, producing one of my favorite shots.
I along with other photographers on this project were given the same access as guests and while we were ushered through secret entrances and park short cuts, all of the photos taken were done right along next to other park guests. So as you take a look at the Disney Tumblr project keep some of those idea in the back of your head for your next visit to the park and see if you don’t end up seeing Disney in a new way through your own personal looking glass.
Seriously awesome! I wish I had more time to practice on my photography…but alas that day job and the photographs I have to take there take priority. Seriously amazing and I cannot wait to see all of the photographs.
Thanks AJM 😀 that is EXACTLY what I thought when I got the gig, seriously had to dust off the ol’ DSLR. Luckily they were open to all types of photography there will be some film shots in there too, you’ll see in the coming weeks.
So this was the secret project!!! Lindsey I am so proud of you. Love your work….WOW.
This is SOOO Exciting!!! Can’t wait to follow you along this magical journey Lindsey! Your photos are enchanting! xo, Jess (Disney Sisters)
