Technically this is week 1 of my series but to get the entire explanation you’ll need to jump ahead to Week 3 where I spell it all out. Basically Its a 52 week photo-documenting projecting, but because a. I’m a blogger and b. I am compelled to over-share without shame I tend to scribe more than I shoot.
first day of the new year
Without looking at other tweets I must say this #RoseParade is one big ad with a side of flowers. Turning off.

Clearly someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, clearly. After a couple disgruntled tweets, I realized I had been plugged in for hours… days at a time and it was beginning to wear on me. I cut myself off social media packed up my cameras and announced to the family, mandatory field trip go put your shoes on. We found a place where everyone would be happy, video games for them grilled cheese sandwiches and shopping for mom. The Polaroids above are from our outing that day, I was kinda pushing my luck with them.
I hit my fav, Urban Outfitters, but when I was thumbing through the marijuana cookbook, it suddenly hit me, I am getting old for this place. I look around to see yep, pretty much I am 20 years older. I move on and find myself reassured there are other books like Mozipedia, and plenty of cameras, film, vinyl, tarot cards and just in case you need a pair of lawn flamingos they have that too.
We try to instigate problems by texting selfies to her brother sitting in front of me to no avail. Sixteen is such a tough crowd.
I sneak back on to my computer for a few more hours. Side note: I have so many tips for you about this so you will avoid the pitfalls I did. I’m going to try to craft up a post about this soon. I also made the jump from 7 to Windows 8, I screamed and yelled about it but I will tell you it has grown on me and we are playing along together quite nicely lately.

My kitchen faces the east and in the Winter I get some beautiful light in that window. Its never gets old I must have a 100 photographs of this same scene. I usually always have an orchid here too, they grow like weeds, more proof this spot is magical.
I get up a couple hours earlier than everyone else so I can continue to work on the ginormous task of sorting through old external drives. I came across a batch with a ton of shots of Lily and took a long pause. Some days it hurts to look back.
“This is a story about good and bad” Act One. She loves a captured audience, especially if its mom and dad.
On my way home I pull over and shoot the local library with my iPhone. The fiery sunset has set the building a fire with color. I love the design of the waves, the ocean is just a stones throw from here.
And finally to round out my week my old computer decides to flip my the proverbial finger and completely crash just as I need to retrieve some back up files, like my ENTIRE contact list and email archive folder.
Yeah that.
You will see why in week 2 this leaves me I’m a little bit out of sorts.
The pictures are great (that LIBRARY!) but your voice and your storytelling are the real gems here. Love being in this space with you. xo
I didn’t do that library JUSTICE. I tried to filter the hell out of it so it would look like a rendering, I think I succeeded – you need to make a stop in the OC. We know reality shows like NO OTHER … hee hee
