Entertain Me | Week 5

02.07.16 By Lindsey G Leave a Comment

I’ve been away and I’ve been home, I’ve sat down and dug deep trying to make sense of the world and the atrocities in it (words fail me.) I ponder the quality and overall efficacy of my self reflective posts, they sometimes feel a bit self indulgent. My fear is that I am contributing to a culture of media overload, and all this? Is just noise. Last month some of my weeks got awfully long winded and then wandered around in circles until I was spent. Where they were mildly entertaining I hope?  ?

I wonder how others feel about the state of blogging so I type in the words “blogs are” …

I am especially entertained by the idea that people are Googling “blogs are stupid” Did I ever tell you about the woman who said that straight to my face, right after I explained that I quit my job to become a blogger (you can read how that worked out over here.) You’ll tell me when blogs are dead I hope. Save me from myself because you know I’ll still be here with my dial up internet posting photos of my clutter and sunsets.

I love blogging and I feel very privileged to do so.

Here’s a few more things that entertained me this week …

Im-here-bitches-boxSuper A was a stage hand in the Talent Show this week. She hasn’t quite worked up the nerve to try out, I keep telling her you only have one year left to have her time in the spotlight but folks I don’t think its going to happen. I was happy she got to wear a staff shirt and feel involved and if I had time I’d go dig through my parents photos to see if I could find one of me when I was in our school talent show, I played the maid who came out and cleaned in between acts who finally gets her 15 minutes and the close of the show, I had to sing Sweet Charity’s “If They Could See Me Now” You know what I saw tonight? a ten year old play Deep Purple’s Smoke On The Water, a 3rd grader belt out Adele’s Hello followed by this …

Things I made

I’m making kale chips again. I added too much salt – ack note to self you DO NOT need Curry Salt aaaaaaaaaand Himalayan Sea Salt. Unless you like the bloat.

bearded-dragon-chompers

Chompers our bearded dragon woke up early from brumation (hibernation) he goes into Rip Van Winkle mode around Halloween and wakes up on Valentine’s Day but he’s a little off and has been since we almost lost him last March (we found him unresponsive in his cage right after we lost Weebee, my heart couldn’t take it) I’ll blog about it sometime for those out there who have been through something similar with their dragon.

I made a tiny video of my week using One Second Everyday 1SE app. You are supposed to take video every day, but I missed a couple, you can throw in a photo or two.

I have a new project that kinda just evolved. It started with a Go Fund me campaign and my decision to be a Yes Girl.  I’m making a donation every week to a cause that comes across my path. This week in remembrance of Oliver, a sweet baby boy who would have turned two this week. His mom Irene created a fundraising campaign for Blink Now an organization founded by Maggie Doyne that serves a community in Surkhet Nepal.

Maggie has been lifted up recently during a period of extreme pain and sorrow as she too experienced a loss of the youngest child there, Ravi he passed away suddenly on December 29th. Ravi was only 18 months old.

Maggie and her health clinic nursed Ravi back to health after he was brought to the Kopila Valley Center severely dehydrated and malnourished on the verge of death he was only 2-3 months (his mother had died in childbirth.) For unknown reasons Ravi passed away suddenly on December 29th. These children are her children clearly. Read more about Maggie and the community she’s helping here.

Super B shared this one with me, so is this the future of teaching history?

Other things I read and pondered over this week … we go deep here folks

  • Unraveling the Yuga Cycle Timeline think of time as a bigger set of cycles ones lasting 24,000 years before it ends and starts back all over again – PS cycle is set to end in 2025. Eeeep!

MODCHIK BLOG (2010-2020)

What began as a blog about an unexpected pregnancy at midlife morphed into a (sometimes) steady stream of private thoughts made public. I've moved from blogs to photography and now astrology. ... more about the journey here.
